This 1932 Standard CS500 is a quality older restoration in a fine rideable condition, it has been restored with care in Austria around 30-35 years ago.
It is a really rare, original machine - with correct original engine and frame numbers, produced by one of the most successful German motorcycle manufacturers of the 1920's and 1930's: Standard/Gutbrod & Co.
The model 'CS 500' was Standard's touring-sports model, fitted with a powerful 500 cc overhead-valve Swiss MAG engine - which was one the best quality power plant options in its time in Europe. Further components include high quality and really strong Castle type front forks and a German made three speed Hurth gearbox with hand gear-change lever, original Graetzin brass carburettor and correct Bosch magneto ignition with Bosch dynamo for electric lighting. Braking is provided by Pränafa drum brakes.
Equipments include full Bosch electric lighting system and horn, original Wittkop driver and passenger seat, saddlebags, integrated 140 kmh VDO speedometer, original levers and a useful Carmen steering damper at the handlebars.
The Standard CS500 runs and rides fine, the MAG engine has a really nice characteristic deep sound and a fantastic tick-over.
