A.J.Stevens & Co. were major motorcycle manufacturers in the years before 1920.
Their first V-twin had been introduced in 1912 and was a very successful model, especially for sidecar use. At the 1919 Olympia Show a new 6 HP model was introduced.
The 1925 AJS Model E1 is one of the most rare V-twin motorcycles produced by the British brand as only approx 16 survivor are known according to the AJS Owners club. Its features included a new type of petrol tank, interchangeable and quickly detachable wheels with internal expanding brakes, footboards with rubber mats, rear stand operated by hand lever and big size exhaust damper, placed under the front of the engine. At its heart lies an air-cooled, four-stroke, 799cc, V-Twin powerplant paired to a three-speed manual transmission, and can produce a claimed 8 horsepower.
This machine was first registered on April 1925 and has a copy of the British RF 60 Logbook. Engine and frame and Gearbox numbers are matching and correct for the year of 1925. The bike has a very interesting long history enclosed in a big book with pictures. This very impressive AJS V-twin has full of extras like electrical lighting set with the very rare and expensive electrical switch on the frame, electrical horn, complete Kirby Smith speedo with the Speedo drive fron the fron wheel, correct full enclosed chaincase etc.
