This early example of the rarer, 500cc ohv AJS survived the war years in Austria and remained in sympathetic storage, escaping the fate of many pre-war motorcycles and remaining un-modernised. The machine was in its current, authentic unrestored condition when purchased in 1968 and has been on display in the Motorcycle Museum of Professor Friedrich Ehn, in Eggenburg, Austria through decades till 2008.

The AJS G8 is in working order, with original Binks carburettor and Lucas magneto. The motorcycle still has its original Terry spring saddle and AJS toolboxes with original covers.
