The lightweight 250 OHV unit-construction was built for only two years in 1923-24. The engine number of this motorcycle is 214 which proofs a very low production.

A genuine 1924 OHV motorcycle in mostly original condition is a very rare find, and this 1924 Rover is a fascinating machine. It’s among the first unit-construction engines in the British industry, with the gearbox incorporated into a larger crankcase casting, and both primary and magneto drive combined under a large cast aluminum cover. It was a very advanced machine with an overhead-valve operation, and Rover’s own development of drum brakes, a few years ahead of the broader motorcycle industry.

The Rover Company was a British bicycle and motorcycle manufacturer before it began the manufacture of motor cars. Rover was established in 1878 by John Kemp Starley in Coventry to produce bicycles. The company developed and produced the Rover Imperial motorcycle in November 1902. Between 1903 and 1924, Rover produced more than 10,000 motorcycles.

This extremely rare 1924 Rover unit-construction OHV with beatiful patina is in running condition, with an integral 3-speed gearbox, and ML.magneto and a brass Brown & Barlow carburetor. It has a luxury equipment of a full function Cowey Speedometer and fitted with Lucas Acethylene lighting and ball horn.
