Standard Langhub 500cc 1934
Engine number: ES50 27291 Frame number: 36305
Year: 1934 Cylinder capacity: 500 cc
This 1934 500 cc Standard Langhub (which means long stroke) is a very nice older restoration from Germany, with a chrome plated petrol tank and typical red paintwork. It is a really rare, original machine produced by one of the most successful German motorcycle manufacturers of the 1920's and 1930's: Standard/Gutbrod & Co.
Standard produced the model, Langhub
only
in small numbers between 1933 and 1935, today only very few surviving examples are known. It is fitted with a 496 cc engine - with the oil tank integrated in the crankcase and encapsulated valves, interesting Castle type front forks and a three speed Hurth gearbox.
Further components consist of Bosch battery ignition, Graetzin carburettor, Wittkop saddle and combined drum brakes.
Additional accessories of this Standard Langhub are original Bosch ES150 headlight and JN5 taillight, VDO 140 kmh speedometer in the tank. A very rare and special Magura sports handlebar, made of two halves, with its own levers is also fitted.
The Standard runs and rides well, the engine has a really nice tick over.
This interesting vintage motorcycle, with the high quality and rarely preserved accessories - is a uniquely special collector's item.
